Will You Marry Me?

One fine afternoon... (while Ash, Nat and I were playing Monopoly Deal)

Me: Ashton, will you marry me?
Ashton: No, I want to marry my mummy! (with a smiley, cheeky expression)
Ash, Nat & Me: BUT your mummy is married already!!!
Ashton: MY MUMMY IS MARRIED ALREADY???? (with a puzzled look)
Ash, Nat and Me: Yes, she is married to your daddy! (Ashton is still looking puzzled!)
Ashton: (Thinks for a while...) Then I want to marry Ta-Jie and Er-Jie!

A while later.....

Me: Ashton! You smell funny! You pooped!!!! Ok, go ask Ta-Jie and Er-Jie to wash your bum.
Ashton: (run towards me and hug me) I think I want to marry you! Wash my bum!!

The expressions and cheekiness of a two-year old boy! Priceless! ;)

Happy Anniversary to Edlina!

Both Ed and Cher (sis in hokkien, that's how I call her) were married 10 years ago on 7 June 1997. It was the grandest wedding I've attended. It may sound rather bias huh? But hey...no! It was the first and grandest wedding in the church I used to attend. When they broke the news that they are going to tie the knot...I was extremely happy for them! At that moment, I was thinking "Finally a wedding is going to take place in my family!"

I remembered following them to several bridal houses to check on bridal gowns and photography. Cher asked me to try a gown for her to see. I didn't try. I was too shy then cos it wasn't me who's getting married. Thinking back...a bit regret *grin* Anyway, if God's willing, I will have my chance! * a big smile* Oh yes, I skipped my college classes when they went for their photo shoot. Ohh...it was fun! I get to see the endless hours of my Cher putting on different costumes, change of make-up and hairstyle, the 'hey keep smiling' shout-out by photographer. It seemed so tiring.....for them of course! Me? I was enjoying myself to the max! When I was a lil' girl, I really love playing dress up. And as I grew older...the passion grew with me! I love the idea of shopping and having new stuff to wear. Who doesn't, right?! It'd be fun if Malaysia has 4 seasons...then I will get to really DRESS UP! Know what I mean? Marvelous! Wait...maybe not! As the saying goes....."the grass is always greener on the other side" so I may be complaining then having to wear so many layers of clothes. Haha....

Okie...back to Edlina....I thank God for bringing them together! Perfect match! They are truly precious, my inspiration! =)

Happy Anniversary Edlina!!! Love you lots!

Spcially dedicated to Ash....

Happy Birthday Ash!!! Wish I could be there on your birthday!! Have you gotten your gift from both Koo Koo and I? Like it? There were so many things we wanted to buy but don't know which one so we ended up getting the book for you? Hope you like it! Oh yes, did Nat give you the 9 hugs and kisses? Yup...it's from me~! You're 9 this year. I know you hear this every year... "Wah...last time, Ash so small only...can't belive she's a big girl now. So beautiful..." Yes you are beautiful...since the day I saw you at the hospital. Don't ever think you're not beautiful ok?! Cos you really ARE! Psalm 139 says it all... we are all unique, fearfully and wonderfully made by God! And add-on to that...you are gorgeous, charming, attractive, talented, gifted, smart....etc etc. I thank God for you....and here's a lil' story of you!

Once upon a time (well, 31 May 1998 actually), a lil' girl was born. Her name is Ashlynn Lim May Yen, simply means bright and beautiful, if I'm not wrong =) She's my beloved niece! My sis was suppose to back-up for worship that Sunday, but she ended in hospital to give birth to her first daughter, also the first grandchild in the family of the Lim's and Khoo's. Being the first, she was lavished with loves and gifts from everyone - family members, relatives, church members and friends. She's a joy to the family....and from then on came Nathalynn and Chrisalynn. Ohh...all of them are jewels...PRECIOUS!! And I'm missing them a lot since they left for Australia. Well..actually 1 week before they left, I've already started to miss them! *sob sob* But I'm glad to know they are enjyoing themselves!

Back to Ash... here's her favorite
Fav. Color: Pink
Fav. Toy: Barbie (she has quite a number of them...was once my dream to own many Barbies but she beat me!)
Fav. Food: Pasta...and lots of CHEESE (Ash, can I ask you once question? Why do you like cheese so much???? Hahaha...gotcha! )
Fav. Fruits: Mango, strawberries, plums, durians....
Fav. Drinks: Mango juice
Fav. Sports: Floorball
Fav. Pastimes: Dancing....and dancing...and dancing....
Fav. Shows: Bring It On 2, High School Musical... (anything to do with dance, cheerleading and ice skating!)
Hmmm...what other favorites.....I'll ask her....

My prayer for you: May you continue to grow beautifully in the Lord, and that your beauty will reflect the glory of the Lord. As you grow older, may you grow closer and deeply in love with God. And that you will live a life of holiness and righteousness before God and men. I pray that your dreams and desires will be fulfilled in His time and that you will continue to explode in your creativity, in dance, and become an instrument of worship to God. And that you will inspire many to be drawn closer to God as well. Amen! Love you lots! MUAKSSSSSSS

Celebration of a Union!

Sounds very political, huh? Nope...the title does not suggest the union of 2 countries, signing of memorandum, peace treaties etc etc.

Well, this is basically the story of my beloved parents! 24th May 1970.....that was the day they got married. How they ended up as husband and wife? It was dance. Yes, dance brought them together. Both of them loved dancing (ballroom dancing!) and if I'm not wrong, dad used to teach dance at mum's place. Mum wasn't his student. It was something like...uhm... dad used mum's house to teach dancing?! I guess mum must have quite a big hall in the house then. Anyway.... mum said that dad didn't give her a very good impression then and she couldn't remember how they fell in love....haha...just a secret she don't want to reveal qua *wink wink* It's funny how people got together huh...especially when one doesn't have good impression of the other. But I believe it was love that brought them together...love that surpasses the flaws and faults of one another. Dad isn't exactly a very romantic man. He doesn't shower mum with flowers and gifts. No Valentine's candle light dinner. Hey...but they do celebrate their anniversary - simple holiday out of Penang. They have been to Langkawi, Melaka....where else? Hmm.... Anyway, romantic or not, dad is definitely very loving...just that he expresses love in a different way.

I remembered last Saturday, we went for dinner and shopping at Gurney. As usual dad ordered food for mum (well, dad is always the one ordering food for mum). Dad got her Claypot Chicken Rice....and it's amazing to see how dad served mum (stirring the rice....making sure that the rice, soya sauce, black sauce etc etc are evenly mixed) and off he went to order his own food. I looked at mum...and she smiled. Blessed woman! Not that she can't do it herself but both of us admit, mum is blessed to marry dad. I've seen most of my relatives, aunties and uncles whereby the wives were the one serving the husband. Typical Chinese men!

And then, every night without fail, dad will sort out mum's daily medicine (vits, supplements etc etc) and will remind her to take medicine. Believe me...without reminder, most of the time mum will forget. And dad will take her shopping almost every other day, knowing that that's one of mum's favorite past time. And dad will buy mum her favorite food...sometimes to the extend of going round the 'whole' Penang to get the best hokkien mee, char koay teow etc etc. And dad....dad is simply loving (not romantic) but practical!

Love is practical! Yes...LOVE is to be demonstrated through actions and not by mere words! That reminded me of how God demonstrated His love to us by sending His Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for us so that we may not perish/ die but have eternal life (paraphrase...John 3:16) And if love is practical, are we then ready to die for our loved ones? Are we ready to demonstrate that love? Maybe not to the extend of dying for our loved ones? Are we ready to go an extra mile, beyond our comfort zone to show love to those whom we profess to love? Maybe...this is a lil' something for us to think about?

Ok, back to my parents! Mum is a gem!!!!! She devoted her life to raise the family when she got married to dad. Some said she's very lucky, she didn't have to work at all. Well, she 'works' at home. She labors with love to bring the whole family together, making sure everything is in order, good food on the table....and love shared amongst each other! I thank God for bringing my parents together. For without my parents, there will be no us (sis, bro and I).

Love you...MUM and DAD! *muaks*

*** Oh yes, we celebrated the anniversary as a family. Dad said, it's more 'happening' that way (Cher and family, we miss you all a lot!) Guess where we celebrated? Gurney Drive! Mum wanted to eat her favorite 'sotong bakar'. Ohhh....it was truly a feasting time! Sotong bakar, fish 'n' chips, rojak, sharksfin soup, fried oyster, ais kacang, grilled squid, watermelon juice, soya bean etc! Total: RM61 (not too expensive for anniversary celebration huh?!)
